(Scroll for full breakdown of the workflow and explanation slides.) This was full mobile game ready environment made for the 1st module at my Escape Studios MA in Game art. I was given 6 weeks to create an entire environment from scratch in UE4.

This was full mobile game ready environment made for the 1st module at my Escape Studios MA in Game art.

I was given 6 weeks to create an entire environment from scratch in UE4.


First week was dedicated to research and reference gathering for things ranging from the environment concept to props and lighting.

Second week was dedicated to blocking out the level, blocking/sketching the big props and iterating with the actual level in the editor and starting to make the trim sheets

Third week was dedicated to finishing the modular kit in Maya and finishing up the trim sheets in Zbrush.

Fourth week was dedicated to UV mapping the modular kit to the trim sheets and starting to model the set dressing assets.

Fifth week was all about texturing, Material IDs and creating the material network in Unreal.

Sixth week was reserved for refining and polishing things such as the materials, lighting and adding extra details to the environment.
