Audrey and Tom final design 

I pondered a lot on how to make a realistic representation while keeping it interesting. I'm mostly inspired by the horrific Halloween masks from the 1900s. Since the brother-sister duo are probably starving for food and resources, they  pull out their scary masks to rob people. The red represents blood, violence, and energy. These kids run no gambling business, but they sure will smack the f out of you, and maybe pull some tricks on you. 

It's been very fun developing stories and visuals for them, it was a great challenge for me. Although there are still some areas I'd like to explore, I think this is pretty close to what I have in mind. Thanks for all the support, and I can't wait for the next contest.

Design of Tom and his blunt weapons. I think the overall design is set and I will take some time to refine my stuff next. It's been very challenging and fun for me to make the designs realistic and fitting to the theme, yet interesting (I think I still need to add more for sure).

I decided to change the colors to make her character stand out a bit more. I also like how red represents energy, danger, and violence better.

Currently working on Tom's design. I did some sketches to see what looks good on him, and how he would carry his guns, blunt weapons, and personal items.

Some stories I've worked on for the two: Audrey is a prankster, very impatient, and hyper at times. Her brother Tom is stone-cold, very violent yet calm, and has a good relationship with Audrey. They two are living in an orphanage since birth, and decided to escape along with their friends in there. They like putting on Halloween masks when they rob for money and food, sometimes outfits. Audrey carries a knife in her sock, often lures in people with her innocent look and fake crying; she uses sharp weapons and small caliber pistols. Her brother Tom favors blunt weapons as he enjoys breaking skulls and the high of smashing people; he is usually quietly smoking his cigarette, and loves stylish coats.

Some explorations

Trick or treat concpet (left): I imagine they would utilize Halloween night to rob people, as it would be a perfect timing for them to stay masked and blend in with other kids. Some study sketches (right), I want to know what they do in their daily lives, what their personalities are like, and how they interact with each other.

WIP, a study of the duo. It is done to let me evaluate if this look is what I'm happy with. The next step would be to figure out their faces, expressions, and outfits in detail, as I have a sense of what their personalities are now.

My mood board after some initial brainstorming. My idea is to create a gang with children as members, with a brother and sister duo being the center of the group (like Bonnie and Clyde). I did some sketches exploring why the children would end up in a gang, some back stories to them. Also I'm still trying to figure out how they would go about robbing and what their daily lives would look like. I will keep updating the post once I have something.
