I am so excited to present my student demo projects. I created these two projects during the last six months of my 18-month-long journey at PIXL VISN media arts academy, where I started to learn with no previous experience.

Hi everyone, my name is Sia, I’m 24 years old and I graduated from PIXL VISN just a view months ago with a specialization in Asset creation. These two projects represent my Student Demo Reel – let’s get into it!

The Witch Shelf

The first one was at first just a rough idea—a small shelf filled with occult items, stuff a witch would have lying around in their home. Sadly, there was no concept art of an idea like that to find, so I had to come up with a collection of objects by myself.

Once I had an idea of what I could add to that shelf, I got to searching for concepts and references.

Once I felt like I had found enough, I got to modeling and texturing. Each object brought its own little challenge with itself.

The next step was setting up a moody scene with lighting, before throwing on the render process, and last but not least, getting to add dust particles and making the atmosphere even moodier with compositing in Nuke.

The Deco-Telescope

I wanted to create something with a mechanic to it, and one day I stumbled across this concept from Tobias Quintella -

As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to go for stylized textures and putting a scene together that looks like someone went up on a mountain at dusk, to watch the stars.

The biggest challenge with it really was the animation of the mechanic.

CONCLUSION

While I know I could have made several adjustments and had more time for refinement, I'm overall happy with the outcome. I'm eagerly anticipating my next projects, armed with the knowledge and skills I've gained from these two.

Thank you so much for checking out my projects and reading through this post!

I am excited to keep improving with new projects and look forward to learning more about creating 3D assets, sceneries and even creatures.

I hope you all enjoyed my work!
