Ghoul Land

by karlyn on 5 May 2024 for Rookie Awards 2024

This game is a solo school project that I’ve executed for ~6 weeks using Unity, & about a month before was used solely on pre-planning. It's played on PC with keyboard and mouse. The goal is to create a brand’s interactive experience. Big props to my lecturer Sir Mink for his guidance!

Ghoul Land is an interactive space aimed to build connectiveness among the m&m community using fun Halloween themed colours and mechanics. It's built as an explorative collecting game that can earn you rewards for participating during the Halloween season.

The game pillars were also modeled after the original insight behind the game:

"The colourful Halloween themes encourage you to share your true self and connect with other."

There are 5 main mechanics in the experience. Trick-or-treating, powerups, messages, combinations and collecting. Only the player's messages and ghoul combination is saved to be viewed by other players.

The ghouls are designed to be ghost versions of recurring m&m mascots found throughout their branding. They all share similar traits to the original mascots.

All designs are based off of Halloween themes, and their special abilities also follow their design type.
