Desert Palace
A stylised fantasy environment, inspired by games such as Journey, Abzu, Ashen, Rime, and The Witness. This was our final third-year university project made at Escape Studios. It was 16 weeks long and 7 students worked on it.
Brief
We had 4 weeks of pre-production and 12 weeks of production.
The brief was negotiated with our tutor and we decided to make a stylised environment, inspired by games such as Journey, Abzu, Ashen, Rime, and The Witness.
During pre-production we developed an Art Bible to set the direction, style and mood of the environment. We then proceeded with the creation of the blockout and started the production phase.
Narrative
The Desert Palace is running low on energy, and it's your duty as the Priestess of this fantastical, ancient civilization to restore it. Take up the crown, and journey through a breathtaking environment, activate the altars and experience the magic unfolding.
