Round of applause for our sponsors

Hi! This is the latest project I've been doing in the Florida Universitaria's Masters Degree in Art for AAA Videogames (MAV). The L85A2, I enjoyed a lot making this project since I'm a big fan of FPS games such as Escape from Tarkov, Battlefield...

Also I wanted to make this gun as realistic as possible.

In this project I learned advanced hard surface modelling techniques. This is a WIP since I still have to texture.

These are the high and low poly. Low poly is 28.422 tris.

I used 3 UV sets:

UV0 - Green.

UV1 - Red.

UV2 - Blue. I did this UV set with the attachments approach in mind, since the approach might change a little bit depending on the studio and the project, I gathered them in one UV set, but they could've been separated in their own UV set for example.

I unwrapped the model using RizomUV.

I baked at 4k, so I have the choice of exporting at lower resolution if needed :D

Next we have the environment, also done in the MAV. This is still a WIP.

I choose a corridor highly based in Escape From Tarkov.

In this project I learned a lot of environment techniques such as trim textures, tileable textures, modular modelling, decals, midpoly with weighted normals, UV symmetry and much more :D

And now the first project I did inside the MAV, the zippo lighter based in the Alhambra.

With this asset we learned the classic high + low + bake + texture workflow for hero assets.

I learned a lot of hard surface modelling during this project and I heavily improved my skills with Toolbag and Substance Painter, specially masking in Painter. I also learned about RizomUV.

I used 1 x 2k map with: albedo, ARM and normal map.

This is still a WIP, I still have feedback to apply to this project :D

And finally, the project I did as an art test to enter the MAV, the Panasonic RX-5500 boombox.

With this project I learned how to use Marmoset Toolbag and how to texture from scratch in Substance Painter.

This was treated as a hero asset.

1 x 2k map with: albedo, ARM, normal map and emissive.

5821 tris.

Hope you enjoyed the post as much as I'm enjoying my journey through 3D art for videogames! See you soon!! :D
