Porsche 911 RSR 2017 Game Model

I completed this model during my final semester of my first year at University. It was modelled entirely in Maya using blueprints and references that I had gathered on the internet. I was then able to model the main body using extrude, edge slide and the lattice deformer in Maya to maintain the smooth bodywork.

Once the simplified bodywork was completed I separated all of the individual body panels and increased the subdivision level to allow for the creation of the front grill, rear spoiler and other details found upon the car.

I then modelled the interior to add more realism and completion to the model before bringing it into Substance Painter for texturing. I created custom alpha stamps in Photoshop to create the livery and added some small hard surface stamps to create the bonnet pins. Once the livery was finished I added dirt, debris and rubber show that the car had been used during a race.

I originally rendered the model in Houdini with an HDRI, but I wasn't happy with the results. I then brought it into Unreal Engine 5 to create the real-time renders that I was looking for/ I made an environment to go along with some of the renders too.

The topology had to be clean and smooth to make sure that the car reflected light correctly whilst all the body lines had to flow together. The model contains around 196000 polygons which is under the polycount of most modern AAA racing games at LOD 0; but I could improve the model by reducing this number.
