Dan Pool is a Lead Artist in Wētā FX’s Virtual Art Department. Having started out at Wētā in 2015 as a Proxy Modeller, he has worked on more than 40 shows helping to create and optimise the real-time assets, sets and tools which make incredibly large amounts of data usable for artists in previs, mocap, animation and layout. Dan’s standout experiences at Wētā include working on Alita: Battle Angel from early previs to publicity events for the film’s release and overseeing the Virtual Art Department’s work for Gemini Man, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and most recently Avatar: The Way of Water, including a short stint working onset.
