Rough initial thumbnail sketches to help give me a rough idea and visual guideline for what I wanted to explore. I knew I wanted a stark, stoic lighting set-up with the skeleton being the primary focus of the piece, and these value sketches gave me a great base to work from without completely deterring my exploration in what the environment or lighting could be:
Base block-in and value lighting set-up was done in Maya so I could model in the basic shapes of the environment and get the values to feel right. Then I shifted everything over to Unreal to work in until arriving at the scene's final form:
