Hamdan Foundation - Cycle 20 Theme Animation

INTRODUCTION

          At "Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance", we create a design theme every year to be used in everything the whole year. This design is the Cycle 20 Theme. This theme was used on our social media platforms, marketing campaigns, prints.. Etc. Please check the below video:-

CONCEPT

          The concept behind this design is pretty simple. Our foundation has 4 directions (Excellence, Giftedness, Creativity & Knowledge), for the year 2017, the main direction was "Excellence". And it was the 20th anniversary of the foundation so we came up with the idea of having a compass instead of the zero which has our 4 direction with the needle pointing at the word "Excellence". BREAKDOWN

          Creating this animation was a challenge for me specially when the compass frame transforms & forms the number "2". I did a lot of experiments till I was happy with how it looks. See below, for two videos, one that shows a breakdown of the comps & the other shows a simple breakdown of the animation in Cinema 4D:-

          I made this breakdown to show how the animation happened. I basically used several "Bend" modifiers to make the transformation from the ring to the number "2".

          A simple breakdown done with still composited images, using the process view feature.
