Slums of Paris
Paris is now a peaceful city in which its residents had to overcome the hardships of the Seine flooding their home by building on top of everything. It's a very cluttered and precarious life, but the residents of the New Paris live their lives one day at a time, making the best of what they have.
This is the result of an 8 week concept art course at my university where the only constraint we got was "Paris". We had complete freedom as long as we explored the world in depth and told a story through the paintings.
This was the first time I have ever done concept art as a full time job and it was a rocky journey, but ultimately, I have never before progressed faster or better. I have learned a great deal during this course.
I went through a serious number of iterations over my ideas for the world until I settled on a peaceful future in which the residents of Paris had to overcome a flooded city by building on top of everything. It's a very cluttered and precarious life, but the residents of the New Paris live their lives one day at a time, making the best of what they have, something I was hoping to convey with my paintings.
