This creature designed by Jo Chalmers is based off of the character Quickstrike from the 90's TV show Beast Wars.

The idea behind the concept was to create a character that was half scorpion and half snake in the same kind of design as Banjo Kazooie. Essentially two animal characters working in tandem with each other to traverse the environment. The twist however, is that the two creatures are connected together.

Initial designs of the character had him be significantly more toon which is a concept that I will explore later on. However at the time I wanted to push this creature to be more lean and acrobatic as if it were a real creature. I took alot of design ques from Scorpion, a main character in Mortal Kombat; right down to the skull face and segmented chest armor.

Initially I wanted to re-mesh and texture the creature using substance painter and Maya, however; given the way that the snake was sculpted, it made it next to impossible to re-mesh and rig the creature properly. Also in the process of re-meshing the creature a lot of its details were lost. Consequently I decided to bring the newly posed character back into zbrush and texture it there. The final result leaves a lot to be desired however I intend to give this design another go in the future and stick closer to the original concept.
