It has been a long discovery of the one question, "How much I love art?" Hello! I am Psalms Ng, a Malaysian artist aka graduate from The One Academy of Communication Design. Below are some projects I did in the past four years.

Update - 30 May 2019

This project allows me to recreate visuals from an existing film storyline. My intention is to relive childhood and revive it through visuals. Based on the classic story “The Little Match Girl”, I design five objects: Character, Creature, Prop, Building, and Vehicle.

The simplest yet the most challenging. Shape language is the key of visuals development hence an area of further practice.

Besides of the stylize based project, this project integrates the knowledge of "Photobashing". It takes me some time to get used the new technique while juggling design principles such as Perspective, Lighting, and Finishing.

Character and creatures design. Plus, an interior environment design to support the story.

I develop a fondness for Environment Design since college years, primarily due to the love of travel and exploration. I enjoy the influence of mood and comfort in different environments.

A big thanks to my lecturers, who has transformed my interest in expressing Visual Storytelling through Matte Painting.

Besides that, appreciate the opportunities to polish my Matte Painting skill through group projects of creating key art illustrations. Also had a little fun of using Daz 3D to create figures.

Last but not least, here comes the final year personal project - the creation of own IP.  I love art in every of its forms and types. even I enrolled a specific course in college. Although this project carries such a weight that it predetermines my future career, I remain open to other possibilities that this project may lead me to.

Finally, I decided to base this IP project upon “things I love to draw”. Each and every illustration is inspired by my life experiences, from the very first day I have chosen art as my life pursuit. The illustrations don’t spark joy. They are all about the dark side, unspoken feelings, and turmoil of emotions, which relate to my personal desire to be freed.

"Illustrated using mummy characters to portray human emotions that flow from the shackles and struggles of life; yet longing to be freed."

As I wish to make illustrations different from my usual style, I apply the design principles, I learned from college and thoroughly study details of paint technique and art styles from my favorite artists. A big thanks to my greatest inspirations- Jimmy Liao, Shaun Tan, James Jean, and Junji Ito.

Thank you for your time!
