Hi i'm Matteo! This is my first project developed on my own after finishing my CG masterclass at Bigrock school. I had a lot of fun and I had the opportunity to use (almost) everything I learned during the course.

This is the final render after compositing, in the pictures down below I will explain how I developed this project.

This is the concept made by @catell_ruz (Charlène Le Scanff) that I based my project on. The proportions do not look exactly the same, the reason for that is because the drawing was not meant to be the concept for a 3D render, so the perspective is a little warped and unrealistic. Therefore I either had to warp the model to make it look more like the original concept, or stick to a more "realistic" look, and I chose the latter.

This is one of the latest drafts of the 3D model, at first I was not sure whether to model the wood grain directly on the mesh, or to add it later as a texture on substance painter. I decided to go with the first option because I liked better how it looked

This is the first lighting draft, here I used a skydome light and a directional light.

This is the final lighting draft, with and HDR I downloaded from Polyhaven and still the direct light from before, but with the temperature setting turned on to give it a bit more colour and make it more coherent with the lighting from the reference.

This is a first draft for the textures. I was not satisfied with it because there was too much the wood's colour was too flat and "clean", and that didn't seem coherent with the concept

This is the wireframe of the model in 3.

This is the final render without compositing. Thank you for seeing my project, I hope you enjoyed it :)
