I started the modeling process with the scarecrow.
This is the scarecrow I drew myself. I also collected real-life reference photos.
I started the scarecrow by creating patterns in Marvelous Designer.
Then, I performed retopology work in Maya using retopology tools.
I added thickness to the model. I also worked on UV mapping.
For adding details, I used ZBrush to sculpt and created textures using alpha brushes.
After that, I brought the model back into Maya and added straw elements throughout.
To make the straw hat look realistic, I attached actual straw materials to it.
In this scene, I paid special attention to the texture of the window as it was important.
I created a mask map by blending the dirt and wiper marks of the window using Photoshop.
I constructed the wooden house by creating individual timber pieces and assembling them just like in real life.
I used procedural mapping techniques to apply textures to the model. Understanding the principles of mapping was a valuable and fascinating experience for me.
It was a scene where I could explore the diverse functionality of Mash. I used Quixel Megascan data and trees created in SpeedTree for many of the plants in the scene.
The following images showcase the props I personally created. These were used in my demo reel.
Thank you for watching! I wish everyone good luck as well!
