A Stick vs Bat
I'm currently learning unreal engine I wanted to make a cinematic for my final.
Update - 31 May 2023
Week 1
Research and Development / Basic Block out. I spent the first week watching how a bo staff is used in a fight and a kanabo. In addition I watched Star wars the clone wars to understand there movements better.
Week 2
At the point I started refine the model to proper scale for unreal engine
The rigs below were not built by me the first one belongs to @Anim_Matt on instagram. The second one was made by Dietrich Magnus
Week 3
At this stage I was doing a test to seeing framing and potentially how I would want my characters to walk.
On the Unreal side of things since I was still learning how it worked I was bringing in assets.
Week 4
At this stage no animation work had progressed but as I was learning unreal. I started attempting to texture my scene just to see how it would look. While gauging the overall vibe at this point. I wanted the interior to be cave like.
Week 5
At this stage at the project I started to burn out a little. I had realized I started this without a plan in mind playing everything by ear. Which was mistake so I deleted my unreal scene and started that from scratch.
On the animation side I want to make it in by the due date for the final. So I deleted the animation and started fresh while shorting the original idea.
Week 6
At this point I was focusing on getting my unreal scene to a place where I liked but mainly was focusing on the animation at this point.
Week 7
At this moment I focused mainly just on the animation planning to do any more modeling and texture around week 8 or 9.
Animation at this point still needed a lot of retiming and pose correction.
