Rahn | Maquette

Synopsis:

Earth, 3023, after several years in which mankind had great difficulty fighting profound climate change, it was discovered that all non-living objects had a life of their own. However, they had always been trapped as inanimate, non-living objects, even though life used them as its home. A team of experts discovered that micro-creatures such as germs, insects, mosses, and fungi could transform their home or the surface on which they lived into something more meaningful; they could move and be conscious. Bred in the laboratory and studied for some 13 years, in 3036 the first group of stones came to life and took its first steps. They named it "Rahn", which is the Estonian translation of "Boulder". "Rahn", a composition of limestone rocks that for millions of years housed billions of living beings, giving them a place to stay and be able to live, has now become a conscious, sentient object thanks to mosses and fungi. The composition of the rocks is purely natural, formed by the wear and tear of time, but in order to give these mosses and fungi the ability to move properly and not just roll around as they have always done, the team of scholars discovered that mosses and fungi not only have the function of being the sentient engine but can also be used as joints for the limbs to give them the ability to move properly with correct anatomy inspired by that of human beings that follows specific rules. 'Rahn' by its size and mass evokes stability, strength, security, and impressiveness. His movement is not perfect, but he moves awkwardly, making every step imposing because of his weight, thus leaving his footprints wherever he goes. As it ages, it is able to integrate itself into human and animal society, lend a helping hand and carry out productive activities in support of humans, and create a life for itself. It has limitations imposed by its size but is basically capable of performing any action it desires. However, they are sentient and are not as advanced as humans, but they do have various abilities that can support them.
