Exploring the Forest- Character & Creature Designs

The character sheet for Alexei & some other silhouettes I considered. He was inspired by the Russian boreal forests, so I tried to mimic the silhouettes of various wildlife from that habitat.

And here's the character sheet for his loyal companion! I wanted her to feel like a cryptid or fairytale creature. Working on her design was definitely my favorite part of this process!

And the final illustration together. This piece was a ton of fun, and I especially enjoyed working on the contrast between the moonlight and the lantern light.
