THE ESCAPE ( A Conceptual Film)

My first foray into virtual production and virtual filmmaking with the HTC Vive is this little liminal space animation (inspired by my love of backrooms). I was able to model the apartments, texture each area in Substance, and easily block out the sceneries in Unreal thanks to my prior experience with Blender, Substance Painter, and Unreal Engine. Since a cinematic was the planned use, I modeled each section as high poly, which is 50k+ polys. All of the figures standing in the backdrop and the main subject sprinting were created using Metahumans, and the poses and animations for each of them were taken directly from Mixamo and retargeted for the purpose. In order to create realistic camera motions and give it a handheld camera feel, I additionally connected my CineCamera Actor in Unreal to the Vive tracker. Last but not least, Da Vinci Resolve and Premiere Pro were used for all sound design, editing, and color grading. Below is the breakdown for the same.
