Buzzler -

I am currently doing a master in 3D computer grapichs at Skyup Academy in Italy.

I want to share the result of the first module, we had to create a character from scratch, the theme was ‘Warrior insects’.

When I was travelling on the plane omw to Italy (I am from Argentina) I saw the film Dune, I am a big fan of sci fi and aircrafts, thus, as soon as they said the theme, I knew that I was going to do something like the ornithopters from Dune.

I created a story behind it, his origins are from Ursula V, a world inhabited by giant bugs. A superior species called the Zullas use this planet as a test zone to create bioweapons, my character is a result of years of research . His name is “Buzzler” because the tremendous swoop of its wings is usually the last thing its victims hear.

Then started drawing, and then doing a plasticine model. When we finished it, we used that idea to start sculpting it on the PC. We used Zbrush, I have never used it before, this was my first time! And God, what an amazing program, it has different logic than all the others program I’ve been using, so it was difficult at first, but now I am starting to feel comfortable.
