Stop Motion Puppet Design

I was so fortunate to have been reached out to by a stop-motion animator to design a puppet for them. For this project I had a few constraints, such as the design had to fit the stop motion animation specifics, the armature was premade and there were not all puppet-making techniques available to make the design come to life and the character had to be a human female. Otherwise, I had the liberty to explore several different routes for the design, ultimately the client has chosen the cow costume. This project is a great example of the process I have when asked to create a design. 

Then I explored the shapes and forms of the details for the puppet. Mixed the details that the client preferred and my favorites as well. After the design was chosen I made several color variations.

The first exploration sheet that I have shown to the client of the possible themes I could go with the design. The animal costume stood out for the client right away. Afterward, I did some more animal costume explorations, I had the liberty to choose the animals I wanted to portray. In the end, the client preferred the original cow costume.
