After I set up more of the environment, I needed to add some animated assets. I found a tutorial for a smoke pillar and wanted to recreate that at a campfire in my environment. The problem with this tutorial is that some nodes were cut off from the example pictures, so I had to experiment for a while until I finally figured out the correct nodes to create an animated smoke. I also used blueprints to generate my own Voronoi texture that I could use in this material.
After creating the material, I needed to add some transparency to it. Referencing the tutorial I used to make a transparent window, I added the same changes to my window material to make it semi-transparent. After that, I had a moving smoke texture that I placed on top of some campfire assets I designed. It ended up looking very thin and wispy, which felt perfect for the campfires I had around my environment that were slowly dying.
