Hunter Cabin Mountain Environment
Mountain landscape that will house the stylized hunter cabin.
Now that the cabin had been developed, I needed to create an environment to place the cabin. With this being a cryptid hunter's cabin, I wanted to style the environment after mountains in West Virginia. I used worldmachine to generate this environment and then I imported it into the level. After messing around with different terrain materials for a while, I finally figured out how to properly paint on different layers of rocks, mud, and grass. I painted rocks along steeper slopes, mud in areas that would have high traffic, and grass in other areas.
Next, I had to create some foliage. Using a free asset pack from the Unreal marketplace, I found some stylized trees that would fit perfectly with the rest of my level. With this being a mountain environment, I covered the entire landscape in trees. I quickly found out that this made my project run much slower, but I was able to hide the foliage when I needed to work on other places. I added some flowers, grass, and rocks and was satisfied with my foliage.
