Round of applause for our sponsors

These life drawings were the beginning of my character project - in order to create a character from scratch, I studied the female anatomy first using charcoal for a basic sketch, then moving onto digital sketches experimenting with colour and scribble lines to create more dynamic images, until I realised I wanted to create something more unique; taking inspiration from my character idea, I created an acrylic study of a woman growing into a plant, with roots at her feet and a blooming flower head.

This is a PowerPoint slide I created while gathering inspiration for my character. I wanted her to appear angelic and connected to nature to reflect her personality. These images represent a few ideas I had in mind for her colour palette and appearance.

Sketchbook pages for my character design show original outfit ideas and hair designs. I began with pencil sketches, and later added a digital layer of illustration to further develop my vision for her appearance. I have also had some practice using some hair brushes in Procreate. I have decided on the name Arina, and written a brief description of her backstory in this section.

I wanted to incorporate some 3D modelling into this project, so I experimented with different skills in Blender to create a rigged, poseable model of Arina.

Here is a digital drawing I did of Arina in Procreate, incorporating all elements of my research. To improve this drawing I would like to add some more varying textures to her outfit by creating some jewellery, maybe a chain belt, and by creating a more unique design for the fabric of the top. I would like the skin to have more texture as well, and there are some areas which could use darker coloured details such as the armpit, neck, and the left side of the face.
