Prologue

Howdy, dear reader! Let me tell you about my work! If you want, you can skip to the very end.

In general, I made a pre new year resolution to sharpen my skills, thus I got involved in a challenge that I found on polycount around Dec 25th.

Falsely, I thought it would take me a couple hours on modeling, probably another two on texturing, all in all I expected in to last a day or maximum two. What a fool I was... It took me 36 hours over 10 days.
8 hours on modeling (4-5 hours were spent on "going beyond reference"),
7 hours on UVing (I am yet to discover a program that has a magical button that does everything for me),
23 hours on texturing (Towards the end I wanted to be done with it already for several reasons, thus I slightly crunched, which resulted in working not as efficient as I'd have been if I rested more frequently).

Epilogue

Tried to make a game-ready asset, that would probably be a gimmick in a game level. Thus the player could interact with it. Aim was for a mix of 3rd person and 1st person.

I was quite struggling with colours. I liked that concept had urban-modern feel to it, probably thanks to its grayish colouration, even though the original object is a WW2 searchlight.
But when I applied similar colours... everything blended together. Especially because of the platform the searchlight was attached to and wheels. They both are big. Therefore, either drew too much attention or horribly blended whole asset. Where I wanted the chassis, the platform and searchlight itself to feel like they are detachable from each other. Especially the chassis.
If anyone has feedback/suggestions/recommendation, I will be happy to hear.

The second bit, where I struggled is polishing the model with inscriptions. Those little details that bring an asset to a whole new level. At first, I thought that writings and signs are added to "fill the gap", where nothing was happening, but it is not always the case as it seems to me.
Once again, if anyone has feedback - free feel to yell at me.

I've used one 2K texture set.

Thank you for your time and have a wonderful day, dear reader!

P.S. sorry for bad process slider views! >.<

Thank you once again for reading everything! ^-^
