I created RETURN for the AtomHawk Art Competition 2021, centering around the theme 'The Return'. I had so much fun with this project, and I feel I'm really settling into this kind of LoFi style and colour palette, which I'm planning to explore further in the future. I even wrote a story to go with it, which is below.

"""Into the stillness of the clearing, a figure emerged from the hedges. Dressed in long white robes, muddied and dirty from the waist down, their face spoke little feeling. For a hundred years or more the quiet of the maze had watched over the little tower, hidden so deep in its network of paths. By now it's old air of dominance was diminished, pillars crumbled, lead roof cracked, bell silent and still. Its clocks now told the time only twice each day. And yet it reached its fingertip into the timeless sky and sang with the breeze above the maze, and the bird bath atop the dais beneath the bell was long dry of water.

The traveller moved further into the space, once a well-kept lawn, but now grown wild and meadow-like, and littered with stonework from the tower. The thick moss was a carpet under their bare feet as they walked toward the little tea table in the middle of the area. On it lay strewn the remains of a tea party, two people's cups and saucers now holding only rainwater, two delicate silver spoons still shining in the afternoon sun.

At last the figure moved quietly out toward another gap in the wall of green. In the distance, far on the horizon was another tower, its brass weathervane glinting in the evening sun, just like its little brother. One last glance at the nearer spire and the traveller disappeared into the green once again, beginning anew the trek through the maze; treading slowly toward the far tower, half a world away. The sound of padding footsteps faded quickly, and once again the heart of the maze slept still in peace."""
