Spaceman

This was as part of my first year university concept art project. The brief was: 1 person in action.

I wanted to work on m ability to render hard surfaces and perspective, so that is what I focused on for this piece.

First off, I was working through a load of thumbnails to try and figure out what kind of composition and lighting would work. At this point however it is clear that I do not know the kind of story I want to tell and the themes I want to work with. 

Finally I came to the idea of doing a space theme, and worked on a few thumbs for that before deciding which one I liked the most. These are rough and undetailed as mostly I want to work out values and readability.
