I was very drawn to Rayner Alencar's concept art of this character. I loved the magical gold fish in her backpack and was fascinated by her story, so I knew I wanted to recreate his beautiful concept in 3D.
Through this project, I hoped to achieve the same mysterious and dramatic quality as the concept. I had so much fun modeling/texturing this piece and matching the beautiful lighting of the concept.
Modeled in Maya. Textured in Substance Painter. XGen for Hair. Rendered and lit with Arnold.
While making the turnaround, I had fun imagining what this character's shoes looked like, since the concept didn't define it.
