Rookies Weekly Drills 048 - TreasureChest
"Well, John wasn't exactly ‘the boogeyman'."
Update - 15 Mar 2021
Was certainly a hard push today to get this one over the line. Going to need to make a better plan during the week now time is a little more limited. Super happy I got something completed this week.
Created a basic Glock, coin and bullet magazine, most of the day was then spent in UV land for the chest model. The UVing certainly took longer than I hoped to get them all neat and tidy.
Didn't have time to get to the presentation using Houdini that I wanted in regards to concrete and having a surrounding basement scene. Just would have brought it to life and elevate it I feel.
Certainly much to improve on the model but great practice to see what is achievable in a weekend.
Update - 13 Mar 2021
Have a ton of reference but didn't want to upload all of them as they are probably copyrighted film images. Added one that hopefully gives a good idea of the look I am going for.
I am looking to re-create the John Wick basement chest of treasure (slim connection but hey he has a lot of gold in there).
Hoping to get the model and scene to a point where I can use Houdini and do a RBD fracture simulation to get the concrete pieces scattered around the environment and chest.
Today I worked on pushing myself to block out the model and then creating details and contents for the chest itself.
Tomorrow I need to work on UVs and rounding of the last items in the chest. Looking to UV and texture what I have first thing in the morning as worried this may take longer than expected. I can work around telling a story not having a few of the items in the scene if that ends up being the case. But I can't work around an untextured bad looking end presentation.
This week will be cutting it fine to meet the deadline :D
