Mossy Stump
This mossy tree stump is my first 3D model. It took a while to make, but I really enjoyed the process.
This is my first 3D model. I had never worked in Maya before, and it proved to be pretty frustrating at times. I struggled to figure out how to maneuver through the interface, but eventually I got the hang of it. I started out with a cylinder and moved the edges and vertices with the move tool until I liked the overall shape. Then, I used edge loops to increase the polygon count and moved everything around again until I was content. I exported it into Substance Painter, and started playing with the textures! I added the bark and the rings. Then, I added some moss to give the model more character. I painted a dark ring on the seam between the rings and the bark to make the transition more natural. Then, I added some dirt to make it more convincing. It was quite the process, but it turned out to be pretty fun.
