Weekly Drills 036 - #skateboard
A project I created for the Weekly Drill 036 - #skateboard
Update - 12 Dec 2020
For the textures, I used Substance Painter. I decided to render my skateboard with Iray. I added some post effects, as you can see here:
The picture shows my work process for the body of the skateboard (the part made of wood).
First, I used a basic material with parameters that matched the material I wanted. Next, I added more layers with similar but different parameters to create variations and changes in the material. I did this mostly at the gloss and color level in different areas, depending on their location in the skateboard structure (for example, areas that are far from a friction area with the shoe will have less of a color-lowering and peeling effect).
Update - 11 Dec 2020
For the skateboard, I used 6 Uv tiles (UDIM) and made sure to maintain a uniform density of the resolution for the entire model. This is what the skateboard’s UV layout looks like:

I added a plane with the reference image on it and started creating the skateboard with some simple shapes, like cylinders and cubes.
For the board, I started with a flat model
