Cell Mitosis
A piece done at Gnomon school of VFX for a class and my Demoreel.
I created this project at Gnomon School of VFX in Andrea Adam’s Visual Structure class and for my Demoreel with Robby Branham. The goal was 5 weeks of concept and art direction followed by another 5 weeks of execution. This shot is inspired by the introduction from the book "The House of The Scorpion" by Nancy Farmer. The scene is set in the future where a scientist is looking through a microscope at a cloned human cell and watching it grow. I envisioned the scene as part of a film trailer or an introduction shot to a live action film.
The final look was inspired by the countless pictures of microscopic cells that I researched as well as the film "Annihilation". The result was a look that was both unusual but also slightly familiar and non-aggressive. I am responsible for all CG aspects.
The list of all the softwares I used include:
Houdini | Nuke | Redshift
