ACCEL is an arcade scorer in which you fly a constantly advancing ship that can move on both the horizontal and vertical axes as well as rotate itself 360°. This gives us a fast past and visually pleasing experience as the ship spins and drifts between the sci-fie environment.

The name of the game is scoring, the more you dodge the faster you go, the faster you go the more points you pick up are multiplied and the more you pick up the bigger your end score is.

All tho this seems like an inherently skillful game, and it is, it is also accessible by all players of all skill levels. Easy to play, hard to master is what was one of the main design themes for this game. You can not die or lose a level. If you hit an obstacle your ship is slowed to its initial speed and you lose your score multiplier. To unlock the next level a minimum score is needed but easily attainable by any and all players with a little perseverance.

The game is composed of three levels with each having their one theme, music, and special gameplay elements. This provides diversity and anticipation for what the next levels will hold.

The game was created over the course of two and a half months with a team composed of five environmental artists, three programmers and I as the only game and level designer.

ACCEL was published on steam for free February 12th, 2019 and as of January 9th, 2020, the game is still on “Very Positive” and has grossed over 20 000 downloads.
