H - Earth ── lighting design

‘’A light fixture in efforts to protect our home — Earth.‘’

Earth is the only astronomical object known to posses the right conditions to harbor life. Humans have evolved through the eons and our consciousness has served as our tools to make our mark on this planet; stretching beyond the land to vast oceans and the sky.

However, the uncontrolled consumption of energy has led to the destruction of our ecosystem and ultimately, our future. The design aims to spark our minds on the importance of conserving our planet. To see the future, we must first save it.

The form of this lighting is inspired by Earth’s unique properties. With 70% of its surface submerged in water, and the rest, a fertile ground for life. The glass is a manifestation of our oceans, and the wood captures the warmth of the land. H-Earth serves as a reminder for us humans to cherish what we have and to protect our planet.

This detachable luminaire allows users to adjust their desirable brightness, by separating the glass and wood while ensuring visual comfort. In addition, the glass can be engraved with unique patterns and motifs, in which a simple gesture such as turning on the light results in a work of art. H-Earth — a minimalistic and innovative piece that compliments any interior setting.
