                   ENVIRONMENT

BEYOND THE LINE is my last year graduation project realized @New3dge
I was in charge of the environmental process.

Beyond the Line is an Action/Infiltration/RPG game that takes place in an alternative reality where the ColdWar has continued to our time. You (the player) join a group of rebels who try to take down the two dystopian blocks.

This "Propaganda video" was used as a teaser to introduce our project.
It was fully created in Unreal Engine using customized material and lightings.

                                   Exterior Environment

We decided to set our scene on the riverside of "La Seine", who draw the frontier between the two blocks in our game. We set the focus of our gameplay demo on The Louvre Museum because of its symbolism.

In our world, the Louvre Museum is a headquarter of the Communist Party!

Our project was focus on the Communist Side in order to avoid too much work even if the Capitalist side is represented threw a "vista".

In my process, I try to split my environment into two layers to symbolize the oppression of the Dystopia.
At first, we created typical Parisian props like street lamps or public benches before applying a communist layer composed of military props and red flags.

I used a lot of modular buildings, combined with optimized material in order to make the level art part much easier.
You can here see an example of speed level art with all the tools created.

                                      Interior Environment

Our Interior scene is the office of our Lord, the main opponent of our game.

We had the wish to re-create a classical architecture scene inspired by "the Galerie d'Apollon" inside the Louvre Museum.
(Sculpture and weapons are props realized by character team)
