Update - 7 May 2020

The exercise for this week is learning about NURBS modeling. Non-linear. My partner and I were discussing maybe MAYA is using polar coordinates to calculate in the backend, or polynomials. If anyone knows how Maya is actually calculating on the backend, please let me know ! It would be helpful to think through modeling with that information.

Problems encountered:

Curves not being absolutely smooth.

Birail with separated profile curves - these profile curves really matter how far apart they are, if too far apart, the polygon stretches too far without nice shape

Ok, there are lots of holes after surface modeling. No idea (or had tons of trouble) after turning a surface back into a polygon. Filling holes worked, but for larger spaces other than a small hole like the edge of the wing, it got really messed up.

When retopologizing, my model left me ONLY the body, I do not know why. My wings probably have problems along the way, but I have no idea WHAT it is.


Joy:

I really like the look of my duplicated planes, they look like they are an airforce together to tackle.

I'm confident to make round houses now.

UV unwrapping was not painful with surface modeling , very nice.

Set goal: to make B21 new model Stealth Raider by US defense . Will try to put 5+ images together for process view this week to try it out.
