Round of applause for our sponsors

I don't know how many times I have seen "Dead Man's Chest". But I had it downloaded on my iPod, and watched it pretty much when and where ever. Including - but not limited to- the bathroom stalls during classes. I have a feeling Verbinski's Squidward somewhat should be held accountable for me ending up studying Visual Effects at Westerdals in Oslo, Norway.

I first realized that i wanted to work with creative media when I was 14 years old. I was jumping from hobby to hobby, trying to find out what to do with my freetime. Then I landed on photographing and photoshopping, and that stuck. My interest of creating photographs started to expand to increase video and graphics as well, and eventually I found myself wanting to do nothing else.

I think I've kinda always known. Since I've always enjoyed drawing and doing artsy stuff. And I always liked to play games, but not in a hardcore way. But some Mario kart etc here and there. So anyway my journey led me where I am today. What made me realise it? I think it must have been my first Global Game Jam. All the people, all the energy, all the love for making stuff and all the cooperation.

My creative aspirations has been phasic. I wrote an essay about my dream job in elementary school, "Skiing film director". When I became a teenager I spent a lot of time morphing bad slo-mo with after effects, and gradually transitioning into creating muzzle flares and lightsabers. Then came a photography period, a music period, a digital music period etc. Eventually I was convinced I needed to pursue academics, only to find out someone else conviced me. To unify my interests, I found games.

I've always loved creating. What started as a love for drawing and illustration has developed into a passion for the creative and technical work involved with cinema.

First year vfx-student at Kristiania University College in Norway.

Since the start of my early teenage years when i bought my first camera.

I realised after working 3 years in a normal office job that I needed a mix between techinal and creative.

I’ve always been a creative person. Back in high school I thought I was going to become an architect, but after discovering visual effects I knew this was something I wanted to do in my life. I was always fascinated and curious about how they did VFX in movies, and how cool it would be to be a part of it. I’m a third-year student of a bachelor’s degree in Visual Effects at Westerdals in Oslo, Norway. I study to become a compositor, but lately I’ve also been enjoying working with 3D animation.

In 2008, when my family bought a camera. I recorded videos and started to play with editing software.

Back when i was 16. I found out that VFX was a thing here in Oslo, so i started studying it.

My interest grew exponentially in high school, where I knew the creative field would have a lot to offer and maybe I in return could offer them. I've always loved the many fields within film and how it all comes together, and through many hours of behind the scenes, I grew very fond of the process of film creation. I started studying media through these years, and have since continued by now studying VFX in college.

I would say the first time I watched the Lord of the Rings movies was a big turning point in my life. This was one of many reasons I realized I wanted to work with movies, but more specifically with Visual Effects. And at the moment I am currently studying for a Bachelor in Visual Effects at Westerdals ACT in Oslo, Norway. Hopefully at the end of this road I will have had the chance to work at one or several prestigious studios around the world.

After getting a digital camera for my 13th birthday with good response on my photos I got curious. Curious about photo and digital art.

I first got an interest for VFX in high school when i started making small commericals for small companies in my final film class in school. I think the year was 2014

I am currently taking a bachelor degree in Visual Effects at Westerdals in Oslo, Norway. This is my last semester of a three years course, where we mainly end up as compositors, though we also learn lots of 3D, including modeling, shading and texturing, lighting and rendering. Right now I'm an intern at Ghost studios in Copenhagen, Denmark.

I’ve always been creative and artsy. Done some photoshop work, VFX and now recently transfered to 3D. Drawing is something i have been doing my whole life.

From a young age I always were fascinated with digital stuff being as realistic as possible, especially video game graphics really interested me. In later years I moved from my interest in games to more visual effects in movies and now more towards architectural vizualisations. We'll see where I end up.

I was sitting and following the release of the next World Of Warcraft Expansion at Blizzcon when they surprised us with the opening cinematic. I had spent a lot of time trying to figure out what i wanted to do with my life at the time, and it was when i got an overwhelming feeling of hype and excitement by watching the beauty of the art, flow of the animation and power and weight of the cinematic storytelling, i knew what i wanted to do for the rest of my life.

In my early teens I was bedridden for months with only a laptop to pass the time. I surfed and saw what other people published on the web, and found an increasing passion for creative media. I would watch speedpaints, behind the scenes and tutorials. Whether it be art, games or films, I was and still am intrigued by the process of turning an idea into awe inspiring work. Ever since then, I have wanted to take part in creating something for people to see and be entertained by.
