Round of applause for our sponsors

In 2016 I visited the Barbican for their "Retro Video games" exhibition. Here I stood in awe at the making of Gravity film. The work Framestore did really cemented my interest in visual media. -- https://copecg.myportfolio.com/

I have always had an interest in all things creative, especially building worlds. In the last few years that interest has led me to a path towards a future role as an environment artist.

When I first enrolled in college at Ebbw Vale, Wales . I found an interest in digital art and 3D instead of the traditional media, I then pushed my self into entering the new field by looking at YouTube videos, tutorials to help me into this side of the creative industries, I realised the more I learn about this part of art the more I saw myself pursuing this a career and everyday I have fun, since I learn new things in University, from my peers, Tutors and in general.

I have always wanted to work in the entertainment industry. I grew up obsessed with films and knew one day I would be part of that process. I started by acting and performing in musical theatre, then helped out the prop and set design department at my drama college, trying to find the place in the industry I belonged and while looking for university courses I found computer animation and knew I just had to apply. and the rest is history.

When I was 13 years old.

I went from writing a large codex of fictional characters to obsessing over world building, easter eggs and intertwining stories that I could share. I've always drawn, copying comic panels to teach myself as a teen, so I knew that a non-creative job wasn't for me. Games are the greatest story telling medium we have as people, the grip the narratives have and how shared / communal they are make me so excited to be part of the industry.

Seeing Steve Vai play at Eric Clapton's crossroads festival is what made me want to become a musician. James Horner is why I am a composer.

After leaving education and getting a job and gaining NVQs in the process, I realised this was not what I wanted for the future and went back into education to pursue a passion.

I am a avid gamer, and as such have always had an interest in the creative industry. But my true interest grew out of my love of creating games for friends to play, be that a complete homebrew game, or guiding them through a campaign as their dungeon master. This interest grew the more I experimented with personal gaming projects, and animation fitted my arty background perfectly as a way into the industry.

When I was around 11, I was playing Oblivion and the world just opened my eyes as to what worlds were able to be created. Always dreaming of ways to create my own worlds for people to explore and enjoy, one of the first PC games I ever bought was Morrowind (my computer was not too good for Oblivion at this point) and from there I explored environment art ever since.
