Round of applause for our sponsors

I have always been drawing a lot, but it was when I learned about my schools existence that I realized what direction I wanted to go. At first I was sure that I was going to design and do concept drawing, but as soon as I tried 3D modeling, I absolutely fell in love with it! Now I just want to explore and keep learning all I can in the world of 3D animation.

I have always loved working on creative things, and ever since preschool I have known that I would love working with films. When I started at the University I was presented to the world of 3D and I was certain that this was what I wanted to work with in the future. I love how you can mix creativity and more technical aspects.

In 2015 I decided to combine what I felt good at with what I love - namely art and video games. In 2017 I was enrolled into The Animation Workshop in Denmark, where I learnt art fundamentals as well as 3D softwares. After graduation in early 2021 I finally began my journey in the video games industry.

I knew I wanted to do something creative all my life. Like most people I drew since I remember. I also made some amateur films with my best friends. One day I saw an interview of one of the animators, who animated Spongebob Squarepants (I loved that show when I was a kid), and since then I knew I wanted to work with films. My first goal was to be an animator, but I figured very fast, that I would go crazy having to animate every single day. And then I learned about the amazing world of 3D.

Since I was little I loved videogames and I loved to draw so I figured I wanted to do something related to art when I was older. Then I discovered there where actually careers related to the digital media creation so I went in that direction instead of going for a fine arts or similar degree. I was planing in becomening an illustrator or concept artist, until I discovered 3D modelling and since then that is what ive been passionate about.

When I was 20, I was working a desk job and had no idea what kind of career I wished for, but I did have a huge passion for drawing, video games, and film. I discovered The Animation Workshop, and realised that even somebody like me could work in the industry, if I just put in a lot of hard work. I have now graduated, after directing our bachelor game project, Path of the Sramana, and interning at SIXMOREVODKA Studio, and I am now working as a background artist on Tales of Alethrion.

Having grown up as the son of a set decorator for feature films, I spent much of my youth on sets, in prop stores and in film offices waiting for my father to be ready to go for lunch or dinner. While waiting I always saw all the creative input that a film required and was impressed. Later starting to work in those offices myself I never stopped to be amazed by the hard work. After 5 years of applying, I finally got accepted into the CG Bachelor here at the Animation Workshop in Viborg, Denmark.

In my early teenage years. It was the only thing I would consider doing for a long time and I felt like if I didn't I would regret it later.

When I was about 14 years old, I realized I wanted to do something in this field. Portfolio: https://jonasngk.com/pages/portfolio

Saw the work in the Ubi-art engine on Rayman Origins, never went back. I enjoy mascot platformer games, stylized 3D and board games. I'm a simple lad.

When I was 10, we went on a trip to school and when we got back, our teacher asked us to create a comic strip to illustrate the trip we took. It was a revelation, I was so excited, I started to think of jokes I could do, to caricature my classmates and my teacher. Since then I started drawing all the time and creating stories with my twin brother. We invented 121 Pokemon, comic book characters and started thinking on what kind of cartoon TV shows we could single them out!

I used to watch Dragon Ball after school when I was a kid, and I read the manga and found it really inspiring. Then I picked up drawing and never really put it down again, but eventually wanted to expand my horizons beyond just drawing Goku and Vegeta 😅. Although I still default to drawing strong dudes.

When does anyone really know

I don't think there was a time where I didn't want to work with a creative medium in entertainment. So possible a combination of watching series and films and playing video games and then imagining how I could expand universes and tell stories for others to enjoy.

Always wanted to do it!

When I came to understand that there was an actual career in CG as a teenager.

Since I was about 11 years old I wanted to work with animation and films in one way or another. Computer graphics came in my early twenties and I have been enjoying learning new skills ever since.

I drew my first made up pokemon when I was 3 (first sign of awakening). Then I tried 3d modelling later on with a very old rendition of Cinema 4d and that led me on to look into 3d. I tried 3d animation at highschool and met a friend that told me what concept art was. That made me want to do concept art since I loved to draw. After highschool I went to artschool and messed around with painting , croquis and sculpting. I loved sculpting so I started looking into zbrush. So pokemon... essentially.

After I graduated high school I wanted to combine my interest for art and science, so I took a gap year to reflect. I have always loved to watch live action movies with CG integrated elements seeing how big of an impact CGI can have on storytelling. Ever since, it has been a dream of mine to pursue a career in VFX working with live action film and/or commercials where I'm able to create never-before seen worlds and solve technical challenges by thinking in new and creative ways.
