I first realized I wanted to work in the creative industry when I was a little kid. The area I grew up in was competitive, and I used to hang out with my friends after school ended for a little while before schoolwork. We didn't have any games back then, so I created role-playing games for me and my friends to play. Seeing their smiles after stressful schooldays motivated me to become a game artist in the future so I can bring my imagination to life and spread joy to others.

When I started reading comics in high school and realized that the characters on the page could be completely human even if they were superheroes. I wanted to make characters that felt as deep and heartfelt, and wanted to create stories that moved people.

Since I created my first AR work one year ago.

My name is Chenshan Gao. I had spent the last four years of study in the science field, but I am now transforming my life towards arts and technology. Being a master student at New York University - Tisch School of the Arts, I study in the Interactive Telecommunication program. I am currently focusing on experience design, film and experiential storytelling in AR/VR.

I realized I wanted to work in the entertainment industry when I was 8. I found a 'Learn to Draw Cartoons' book in my father's library and took it to my room. I followed the step by step process of the book, but then cried as I felt I was not good enough. I was not aware at the time that practice, dedication and experience was require.

Ever since I was a kid, my dream has always been to make people happy and bring a smile to people's faces. I never really thought about how exactly I could do that, until I started drawing comics, and sharing them with people. And I realised that by making and creating games, I could bring joy to people by giving them new experiences and reasons to smile. I have always loved art and technology and strive to find new ways to bring them together.

After I learned the concept of Homo Ludens.

I probably first wanted to work an a filmmaker and animation, when I was around 10 years old. At the time, I was obsessed with special features on my animated DVDs that detailed the production process. It appears so multifaceted and brimming with creativity on every end. I knew I had to be a part of that world.

Before my interest in the creative industries, I practiced ceramics and found intrigue in the kiln's ability to yield diverse beauty. This sparked my interest in unexpectedness, leading me to Generative art. Switching my medium, I used generative programs like Processing and P5.js to generate unexpected visual phenomena. I now employ game engines such as Unreal Engine to create unique aesthetics in immersive spaces.

As a child I was far younger than my siblings and the only kid in the house. My retired father looked after me during the days and growing up in middle America with nothing to do almost all we did was watch television or go to the movies. I watched all kinds of movies and TV at home from 80s animation to 50s westerns and anything in-between. We went to the theater when we got bored of the movies we had at home to watch new ones. I got my desire to work with creative media from these experiences.

My strength is my creativity! But I've never really known what I want to do

when i made my first game

About 2 years ago. I was doing alot of work in the theatre industry and found that i became really interested in creative media and expressing myself through games, 3D modelling and animation.

I have realized my enthusiasm in art at a young age, and I find game, cinema and other CG fields in the perfect media and combination for my to do character design, narrative and art in general.

When I was graduating High School in 2003, I founded a Fashion Music and Film Agency pursuing emerging media and technology.

Start from music/sound, then I participated a lot of different media creating processes. I realise I can engage more in creative media with multi-media and to break the line between them.

When I was in high school after attending a mindblowing sharing session hosted by an architect.
