Since 2018, I began to dive deeper into Environment Art and studied Creative Media & Game Technologies at the HKU. While going to university, I dedicated all my time to learning new workflows and techniques related to Environment Art while following multiple Mentorships on the side. During my Graduation project last year I've become very interested in learning more about lighting and this resulted in a full time position at Moon Studios as a Lighting Artist.

Years ago I started playing around with RPG Maker and Pixel art a lot. When it was time to decide what school to choose, my brother mentioned that at his school they had a Game Art course. I immediately knew that this was what I wanted to do.

Ever since I played the game Final Fantasy 7. Since taht game other game such as MW2, Skyrim, fallout, Journey and Witcher 3 has been pushing me to become an aspiring 3D character artist.

When I was a kid, I used to play MMORPG games which gave me a lot of inspiration to make my own "games". Since I had no idea how to make actual games back then, I would simply draw out a map/world on paper and draw items and monsters in it. The player would just use their finger as a pawn to move around in this world. Then one day I learned that 3D modeling software and game engines were a thing, so I didn't hesitate to try them out and maybe make a real game someday.

Wether it was making comic book art or making photo manipulations in Photoshop I was always interested in creative fields as a kid. During a long hospital stay I bought some magazines to keep me busy , most concerning games but also ImagineFX which helped me realise people used photoshop for digital paintings. Since studying Game Art I've discovered the world of concept design and am hellbent on getting into the industry.

I first realized I wanted to work in the creative industry when an illustrator came to our primary school and told us about her job. I was about 10 years old at the time, but I immediately knew that this was what I wanted to do.

Starting from a fine art background, I realized I needed to venture further into my ultimate passion within the creative industry. My fascination with the gaming world took hold, and I set out to breathe life into creating captivating virtual realms.

I always knew I wanted to work in the creative industry. I loved watching fantasy and science-fiction movies as a child. Not just because of the stories but because I wanted to be able to create what my idols were capable of creating! I started as a makeup artist with a focus on FX makeup and body painting and switched to games because I wanted to focus more on bringing the whole story to life.

I'm a 23-year-old Dutch artist whose passion lies in the exploration of human complexity and vulnerability. With a focus on personal and intimate storytelling, I try to capture the authentic emotions and moments that define our humanity in order to evoke introspection. Drawing inspiration from my background in Audiovisual Media and my current studies in Illustration at HKU, I bring a distinct approach to visual storytelling with a strong interest in analogue work and printing techniques.

Ever since I was a child I have had an immense interest in creating characters in my head. That interest quickly got me into drawing, after finding out there is a whole industry that needs people to design characters for them I knew I wanted to become a Concept Artist.

From a very young age, I was captivated by the various and colorful worlds of video games, where I spent countless hours exploring the myths and stories. As a result of this, I realized I wanted to create all these things on my own. Especially the characters. During my studies, I discovered that designing creatures and characters is where my true passion lies.

Applying for 'Interactive Media & Game Technologies - Game Art' was a split-second decision. At 17, I was unsure about my future, but figured I should take the risk of going in this direction 'cause I would never have the chance again. It's a choice I've only grown happier and more confident in, with every challenge it brings. It truly has shaped me positively into the person I am today.

I've always drawn and designed my own characters, and from a young age I've been interested in games. The first real game I played was Pokémon Diamond at age 9, and I was fascinated by the gameplay and the pixel art sprites. I realised that the graphics of the game all had to be drawn by someone, so I did some research and found out that Game Artist is an actual career, and that I wanted to do it.

When I played Minecraft for the first time. This lead me in to 3D-modelling and that leads me in to the study game design.

When media touched me on a personal level and helped me through tough times I decided I wanted to contribute to that.

About 4 years ago when I applied for the study Image and Media technology and fell in love with the possibility's of 3D animation.

From the moment I started playing games I got heavily invested in them. And there is nothing better to get your own creative mind to work to make new worlds, share new stories and channel those visuals for others to experience.

Around 9years ago I started with modifying textures of my favorite characters in Team Fortress 2. Seeing some of my own stuff in a fully fleshed out product was a very nice experience, that made me realise that I wanted to work in the creative industry. All though my interest shifted throughout the years. Going from illustration, graphic design, motion graphics, visual effects to character art and 3D environment art. Games and movies where always my main source of inspiration.

I tried many think like, building 2D games, animation, and 3D modeling. But In concept art, I really found my place. I find nothing more satisfying and challenging than creating believable worlds with props, environments and characters that others can explore and play with.

I have always loved to draw as a kid and decided at a young age that I wanted to pursue a career in a creative field.

A long time ago. I've always wanted to do something creative. What that would be, only developed a few years ago when I started 3d modelling and finally doing material art.

As long as I can remember I loved to draw and thought I'd try the art academy

I've always been enjoying creative activities, whether it was drawing, painting, or designing, I loved using my imagination. Around 15 I had to start looking at study options for my future. I knew I really wanted to do something creative, but simply didn't know what my possibilities were. And then, I came across HKU, a school that provides a study for Games. And everything just clicked.

I wanted to create my own worlds as soon as I realized that time machines don't exist. I was always drawing and envisioning my adventures in the age of dinosaurs, so it was quite a shock when I was told that I was never going to pet a Stegosaurus or ride a Diplodocus. I always believed dinosaur documentaries were created using time machines, so, naturally, the next best thing I could come up with was to work on a dinosaur documentary one day.
