Uncover Hidden Talent: Hire the World’s Top New Digital Artists
I first watched Star Wars at a very young age and fell in love with it immediately. Growing up watching so many other films and playing a ton of video games strengthened my desire to get into the entertainment industry in some capacity. I always had a real desire to work in a creative field, so I focused on art throughout my time in school. In college I began exploring animation, but eventually transitioned into game art after falling in love with the 3D art process.
I spent 6 years switching through various science majors. I knew I had no passion for teaching science. I had nothing to lose; A mountain of debt, a late start, and a career I had no desire to be in. Being afraid of failure pushed me into a "safe" career; and look where that got me. I figured I might as well go for broke and start chasing the coolest sounding thing. I used to draw as a kid and I've always loved games. It was an easy decision to make.
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been pursuing creative pathways whether it be through private art lessons at a local coffee shop, or taking every art class available through middle school and high school. Despite this, my mind had always been set on medical sciences. After a grueling high school career with COVID, traumatic events, and loss of loved ones I came to realize art is what helped me through it all. Senior year I applied to CCS, got in, and now pursue a career in creativity.
I think that realization has been a long time coming. Throughout my childhood, I danced between the worlds of technology and art, receiving a fine arts-based education during the year and spending summers studying the creation of mods, level design for games, 3d printing, and at my oldest the creation of very simple artificial intelligence. Though it was in front of my eyes in the most obvious way, I did not see how you could have it all before discovering 3D creation for Games. And here we are!
I had a bit of a long journey before I found my place. I first started off my 2nd year of high school and took a intro to modeling class. I loved it but something in me made me want to try other things. Skip two years later and I haven’t touched a modeling program two years but I want to make a game. So I picked it all up again and fell down the rabbit hole. Spent three years developing a game which ended in me going back to school to peruse a bachelors degree in game art.
Nintendo titles ruled my childhood, and even before I could completely grasp that working in the gaming industry was a potential career, I knew I wanted to make games. Later on in high school, I realized that being a game artist was something that I could pursue realistically, as I wanted to incorporate my art into my career.
I wanted to work in the entertainment industry when I realized someone had to draw and create the characters, creatures, and environment in video games. My first experience with art in video games was an issue of Game Informer, as a kid, I did not read the articles but only looked at the on the cover artwork and the illustrations. When I made the distinction that art does not only exist in a museum but in forms of entertainment and media that's when I decided to pursue a career in entertainment.
My interest with 3D began during my high school years. Sketching out ideas to later model in Maya would evolve from a hobby into a strong passion that I would later pursue throughout college. During college I specialized in learning more about the character art pipeline, practicing anatomy and furthering my sense for design.
