Round of applause for our sponsors

I first realised that I wanted to work in the creative media industry while I was completing my research project in high school. My topic question was, "In what ways has the advancement in CGI impacted the film industry?". Before doing any of my research I didn't have any knowledge of CG or how it was done, yet I was very intrigued and enticed by the world of VFX and I was already in love with games. The more research I did, the more I realised that I wanted to be a 3D artist.

I studied architecture for a while but eventually left and found out about concept art in learning to draw as a hobby. I just started getting more involved, and eventually I decided to go all in. Now it's my life.

I dreamt of working in the entertainment industry as a kid all the way back when I was playing my Super Nintendo. Although, it would be many years later that I would recognize my dreams could become a reality and that my hobby could become a profession. I truly put my head down and started to apply myself when I started my formal education. I have worked long and hard to get to where my skill level is at now, and I look forward to pushing myself harder every day to try my best myself.

My name is Alexander Tuma and I am an aspiring 3D/texture artist based in South Australia. From a young age, I was fascinated with digital art/design, wanting to know more about it and how it was created. At the start, I focused more on video editing and motion graphics more than anything else. However, I ended up coming across Autodesk Maya and wanted to know more, thus starting the plunge into visual effects and 3D.

I first realised that I wanted to work in the creative media and entertainment industry when I was in high school. I knew I wanted a career that involved a creative element, thus I took part in a 3D Fundamentals and a Graphic design VET course. I soon realised that I loved to recreate objects in 3D, thus wanted to find a path into the creative media and entertainment industry. I believe that film will be the best pathway as it excites me and no matter how small the model, it may be seen by many.

I first realised I wanted to work in the creative media and entertainment industry when I was in high school. I was interested in the industry as I figured it would be a good way to get a job in art. The industry is honestly quite scary, I am so impressed and intimidated at the same time. I realise that I am going to have to work and practise as much as possible to get a job in something I love doing

From a young age I was pretty obsessed with cars and trains, and I've been drawing them for about as long as I can remember. This interest in mechanical designs sparked my interest in concept art. Through high school I had my heart set on becoming an automotive designer, but as my tastes and hobbies grew, I just figured I had a better appreciation for film and games, and would find that world more fulfilling.

In the middle of my previous creative arts course at the Adelaide Central School of Art, I realized I had more passion in the entertainment industry, felt that my work would be more appreciated and that I would have more to offer. After finishing my associate degree at the ACSA, I decided to continue my journey as an aspiring artist at CDW Studios, while doing personal passion projects and commissions in my spare time.

Hey there! I'm Georgia I've had a passion for drawing and storytelling ever since I was a toddler drawing on the walls (Sorry mum). That being said, art has always been a platform I felt most comfortable conveying ideas in. As you may notice, I like to work stylised. And try to incorporate Fun shapes, bright colours, silly faces and a lot of heart into everything I do. I am constantly eager to learn new skills and meet new people who share the same passion for creating.

I suppose after a long journey of trying a wide variety of jobs from fitness instructor to cafe worker and finding very little satisfaction in these roles I went back to my roots. Sketching has always brought me a lot of joy so I decided that it would be interesting to try and pursue my childhood passion and see if it could lead me to a fulfilling career

I have always loved drawing, playing video games and watching movies, so when I realised I could get a job that involved all three I knew immediately that's what I needed to do. I had a vague idea of what I wanted to do as a job when I was young but it wasn't until I was in high school that I really started thinking about my future and realised I wanted to work in the creative media and entertainment industry and began to delve into digital art and 3D software.

I wanted to work in the games/entertainment industry when I had a passion for creating art but also playing video games. I want to create immersive art and fictional worlds for players to be part of as well as telling stories through characters & creatures.

Ever since I was a kid, I grew up on playing video games and watching films. for the longest time I thought it would be an impossible dream. years later i discovered the educational courses and that my dream wasn't all that impossible. I have applied myself to developing new skill sets but there is always room for improvement.

I have always had a deep love for the entertainment industry, primarily in film and video games. From a very young age, it has been a dream of mine to work in said industry, and this goal is currently at the forefront of my life.

For as long as I can remember I've had a habit of sketching on whatever piece of paper came my way. During high school, I'd spend a countless amount of time looking up the character concept sheets from my favourite games and the colour scripts/storyboards from my favourite films, thinking that working in the concept design industry would just be a dream. It wasn't until looking at universities did I realise that I could turn this dream into a reality. I've been chasing this dream ever since.

I began my Digital Media degree with Flinders University / CDW Studios simply wanting to improve my 2D skills, I had no interest in working in the entertainment industry back then. It wasn’t until the beginning of my third year of study that I decided I wanted to work in VFX. I now work as a Junior Environment Artist with Technicolor Academy.

Art has been a constant throughout my life, it's only natural that it would carry through to my career in the creative industry too.

I've loved art and creating for as long as I can remember. I grew up fascinated by game and film, and eventually realized I wanted to be one of the people creating these incredible works of art.

In 2012 I started documenting my progress drawing and learning to paint in photoshop, and started hanging out on art forums with the vague intention to return to university and study in the field. Eventually, this led to my studying at Flinders University & CDW Studios, completing their Bachelor of Digital Media program and to where I am currently - studying Honours with the intention of furthering the field of 3D assisted traditional animation techniques while improving my technical skills.

Life after school got boring really quick! I was 20 years old and sitting at home waiting for... well really anything! Then with the input of my friends and family, I committed to completing a degree in Digital Art. When I discovered the 3D entertainment industry, I knew this was exactly what I wanted to pursue. I grew hungry for more knowledge in becoming a professional concept artist.

Ever since I could remember I have always wanted to be an artist. I have only recently honed in on my skills and have been focusing on getting better at environments and backgrounds. My main form of art that I really enjoy is character design as I love coming up with wacky ideas and be able to express them into something and someone that people can feel attached too.

When I was young, I was fascinated by the idea that an individual can make their own games, downloading Unreal Engine is where my creative journey started. By the time I was 15 my interests shifted to 3D Animation, from there - I was a traditional 2D Animator for 2 years. When I was 17 I got my first position as an animation compositor for Zantu, from there, the freelance work positions started arriving in my inbox. I am currently studying a Bachelor's in special effects and animation for film.

When I was a teenager, I heard someone say that video games are art. And even since, I have been deconstructing video games, looking at how something came to be, what is great and why is it good. I love it. And now, all I want is to help create more of the experience that excite and inspire me for others.

I've always had an interest and passion in the arts. Discovering digital art was a 'lightbulb' moment for me, opening up new avenues for future careers! Looking through companies and seeing what was possible was a dream come true.
