Round of applause for our sponsors

From the beginning of high school, I had a lot of interest in digital technology and I immediately chose digital art as one of my classes, I was mainly interested in how graphics engines worked and how I could create in them, I was especially interested in modeling software such as blender and I watched a lot of blender tutorials even though I had no idea (or hardware) to make anything.

I wanted to work in the CG Industry after walking BBC Walking with Dinosaurs (1999).

What drives me the most into to getting in the creative industry aspect, is the storytelling aspect of both mediums thatmotivates me to pursue an interest in pursuing work and the creative and entertainment industry.

In 2013 when I was 10 years old, I realised I had a passion for the creative industry. From a little girl until now the overwhelming happiness every time I watch animation or play games has not changed.

Since my childhood I have been obsessed with making short videos and films. In 2019 I realised that I could work in the creative media and entertainment industry after seeing my Uncle work for movies like the avengers end game, fast & furious and more. I started learning my creating videos on my phone and editing them on my phone and later on my computer.

Way back in high school when I saw certain shows and concept art.

Ever since I was a kid, I obsessed over story telling and making art. I was fascinated by how easy it was to be creative, but how difficult it was to express it, I took to the pencil. Many years later and in highschool, enabled my ability to express myself clearly through dramatic arts. I took everything creative. Made music in my spare time, made animations, drawing/art all while performing dramatic arts. I could not live without being creative.

It actually only clicked for me when I was in my second to last year of high school. I always produced video content and art my whole life, but I never though about the fact that I could pursue this as a career. So, I switched my career goal from Vet Nursing to an Aspiring Digital Designer and I've never looked back!

First wake-up call was watching the BTS for 'Lord of the Rings' and seeing all of the concept art, set design and storyboards when I was about 7. For some people it "ruins the magic" of the film, but to me, it was actually discovering a new type of magic that I instantly wanted to learn more about. I always knew I'd have something to do with storytelling and the creative industry - just never exactly HOW until I attended AUT in Auckland.

I first realized that I wanted to work in creative industries is when I was in year 13 doing level 3 where I love what I was doing such as films, game design and so forth. My teacher inspired me about this subject and what I can bring to the table

when I applied game design in korea university

It all started when I was around 5-7 years old when I randomly chose a video game at a rental store called VideoEzy. The game was Sonic the Hedgehog and I became a huge fan of the franchise. Sonic the Hedgehog led to me diving into more video games and drawing as a hobby, leading me to grow artistically and explore, which formed my passion to study 2D/3D animation.

I watched a lot of let's plays growing up and loved watching the stories that emerged from the interactions between players and the games. I love pretty aesthetics and applying new things I've learnt so taking a game design seemed like the most rewarding way of doing that. Honestly, I can't imagine doing anything not creative.

My interest in creative industries originate from watching videos during the early years of YouTube, playing around with Windows Movie Maker, and seeing intricate film productions from my local cinemas.

My first year in the digital design course at AUT I realised I wanted to become a VFX artist as soon as I started my first project. The project was a crappy 30 second haunted house move trailer but I enjoyed everything about it. Going out at night to an abandoned house with my friends to film it, mashing buttons on adobe premiere to get the scenes ready it was all so fun. I found myself watching corridor crew talking about how different shots in movies were done and it really intrigued me.

I have always been drawn to creative industries since young. As I got older, having the opportunity to study digital design, I became more determined to purse a career in the creative industries. I'm passionate about the power of creativity to communicate ideas and emotions, and I'm excited to apply my skill to a company that is committed to creating meaningful and impactful works.

Since I was a child, I have had a deep love for movies and the experience of seeing the breakthrough film Avatar in theaters when I was nine years old was a pivotal moment for me. The film's stunning visual effects and compelling storytelling left a lasting impression on me and ignited my passion for the film industry.

I have been passionate about creating since I was a kid, but my specific interest in 3D was developed by watching blockbuster films like King Kong (2005), Pacific Rim, Transformers and so on. I was stunned at the VFX used and was confused as to how one goes about creating something so complex. This curiosity eventually lead me to discover this field and from then on I never looked back. I knew what I wanted to do.

Always fascinating with Animation since i was encounter Star Wars and Toy Story

I have wanted to work in the digital creative industry before I even knew what working meant. Since I was a child in primary school I was enthralled with everything digital from films, to animation, to gaming etc. Much of my younger years growing up held significant memories and value in certain films I loved, or video games I would play daily after school; it was as though I was living a double life, with the digital world holding just as much sentiment as the real.

My journey as an artist started when I was doing year 12 in college which was 3 years ago. I wanted to be a pilot by then until I met some friends that were either studying some digital related things or preparing to and I just fell in love with their day today tasks and their aspirations and work. Ive always loked drawing or animating and game development but only then I knew that industry was the thing for me and so that is how everything started.

Since I have realised the unlimited possibilities of what media can portray. We can literally raise the dead and create our own world.

I've loved art and creating things ever since I was little and was always inspired by video games and cartoons, and loved creating things based on them. It wasn't until I played a game called Little Big Planet 2 on the Playstation 3 when I was 10 years old that I realized that I could share my creations and inspire others to be creative as well. That sparked my want to create and share that little bit of childish magic to a greater audience.
