Round of applause for our sponsors

I have always loved cartoons and animated films and been amazed by what animation can achieve. My interest in creatures and animals has grown over the years and visiting zoos and sanctuaries has really developed my enthusiasm and interest in the creature/VFX field, thus combining my love for animated films and enthusiasm for animals.

It was around 10years ago when I first saw a short animation named "The Cathedral" by Tomasz Bagiński. I have always been a creative soul but the moment I saw it during my IT class in secondary school made me realise that I want to work among other creative minds, creating stunning pieces which everyone enjoys. I made my way through a film school and Visual Effects and Motion Graphics course at University and already worked with great people so it was the best decision I have ever made!

When i was really young and i watched the Lion King for the first time, i told myself one day i will be one of those people make animated films to make other kids happy. Since then i have always been drawing, and during highschool when 3D animation started being more popular, i aspired to work in the 3D industry instead, since it appeared more challenging to me.

I think I've always floundered around from discipline to discipline, but ever since I was young I've been tinkering with whatever game engine editors, adobe software or movie makers I could lay my hands on. I knew when I was maybe 8 that making games or movies through computers was my calling, only narrowing into 3D art at around 16 after years of dabbling here and there.

When I was little I used to draw a lot, create stories and characters in my head. My older brothers and dad used to play many video games and I grew up in that environment. Later, after I finished high school, I did not know what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Choosing a career so young felt daunting. Therefore, I took a gap year. After that year I knew I wanted to chase my passion in making my own characters in the game industry.

When I was a child, I wondered how something that did not exist in real life could be that real in a movie until the point I had to innocently believe it.

When I started drawing when I was younger, I enjoyed sketching things I enjoyed or just doodling while at school. I also loved animated features and the stories being told and thought it would be exciting to be a part of that process.

I created a Lego stop motion animation on my ipod and realised that I can write stories and then bring them to life with animation. So I have spent years learning new techniques and software so I can tell stories to the best of my ability.

I've loved creating characters and gaming all of my life its been apparent most my life that I've wanted to work on videogames as a character and creature designer.

I left school earlier than most, and in that time I started doing freelance illustration. I enjoyed it but still felt like I needed more if a challenge. It suddenly clicked that I could combine my love for games and art and so I started exploring 3D art, I have loved it ever since.

I always loved storytelling through movement. I have a theatrical background so storytelling has always been a part of my life. I love animated movies, stylized pieces, short and expressive dialogues and small movements like shaking hands or a glimpse of a smile when a person tries not to laugh. I believe small movements have a big impact on the surpassed emotion and I wish one day I will be able to participate in their creation.

I began my interests in creative media from watching several movies over the years. 3D visual effects always intrigued me, and I wanted to give it a go. I am now in my third and final year in University of South Wales, studying for Visual Effects and Motion Graphics.

I've had a spark for the arts since I was young - After working as a professional photographer I decided to expand on my knowledge for the visual arts by studying VFX.

I had a keen interest for films and games from a young age, my first ever game being one of the Tomb Raider's on PS2. I also soon realised my love for fantasy worlds and visual effects too when Oz the Great and Powerful was released in cinemas.

Art has been a constant in my life for a number of years now; drawing and creating became meaningful to me during a break from education due to health problems. I found exploring art in this time to be a place of great personal fulfilment, and chose to peruse it as a career.

After seeing 1999's the Matrix

When looking for University courses to apply to after A-Level, I really looked into what I actually enjoy and would want to go into instead of what subjects at school I was good at. Something that I kept coming back to and has always been an interest in was the world of Film and Television. When combining this with my creative skills in Fine Art and Graphics I found Visual Effects as a career that I fully leapt into and wanted to peruse.

Growing up with animation at a young age, not only was I entertained by watching illustrations of characters come to life on screen, but also the thought process behind the animation, which I find satisfying process behind it, which inspired me to design my own cast of characters, write my own stories and create my own animations.

When I attended independent animation and film festivals where I met very inspiring people.

I only realised that I wanted to work in this field 4 years ago, I used to edit video games clips together and was slowly being pulled into the world of visual effects. This revealed a passion that I had inside me about all creative media; films, video games, tv shows and music videos. Every time I watched or played one of them I always analyzed and tried to figure out the techniques they used, then I just decided to try and recreate some myself and this lead me to where I am now.

I first realised I wanted to work in the creative media industry when I attended a Paolo Nutini concert in 2014 when I was 14 years old. I saw the background visuals interacting with the live footage and it really sparked my interest and awakened me to the creative industry which I didn't even know existed to this extreme. I've loved creating ever since and can't wait to evolve in this industry.

Since I was a kid I really enjoyed watching and playing fantasy and science fiction movies and games. But it wasn't that long ago when I realized that working in game industry is something that I would love to do.
