Uncover Hidden Talent: Hire the World’s Top New Digital Artists
I have always loved watching animated films since I was a kid. When I learnt that I could make films as a job, after Junior College, I enrolled into a 3D Animation school and went all in to learn more about animated features. I fell in love with storytelling, 3D modelling and texturing so I started creating short films with my peers.
I have been taught traditional art and music disciplines since I was little and it later inspired me to do something art-related. I started thinking about it seriously in last years of secondary school when I had to make a decision where I want to apply for, so I applied to a University of Hertfordshire and in the first year of studying in there I realized that being in a creative media and entertainment industry is what I really want to do.
For as long as I can remember I've had the desire to create and design worlds and characters that I want to share with the world. Cartoons were always a must as a kid, it was proof that my passion could be a career, and that I could be one of those people creating and entertaining one day. Now I am on my way toward that career I am more invested and driven than ever to create and inspire others like myself in my industry.
I always enjoyed drawing and painting, finding online art sites like art station made me fascinated by the world of CGI and the passion grew from looking at everyone else's work and me wanting to be one of those artist. Inspired by the visuals of Killzone and Star Wars but my biggest early impressions was Feng Zhu's videos on concept art.
I always wanted to design Lego sets as a child, but after studying media at college and discovering 3D Modeling/Asset design for games... I now aim to become an environment/prop artist. I pride myself upon small and impressive details and creating optimised, game ready assets. My ambition has never changed and I thoroughly enjoy the AAA art-form and trying to replicate realism.
Despite having an interest in games and animation growing up, I never really considered a career in those industries until mid A-Levels, when a close friend of mine shared a written story they wanted to realise as a comic or game. Entering a Foundation Diploma in Media Production at Ravensbourne University London helped me discover my passion for concept art and emotional storytelling through cinematics. I'm now studying (BA) 3D Games Art & Design at the University of Hertfordshire.
I realised I wanted to work in this field when I started to consider the reasons I enjoy video games so much: why they're such a powerful art form and storytelling medium. Most of my interests and passions are creative to an extent, including music and programming alongside art - video games encompass almost the whole multitude of things that I enjoy!
I realised this, when I was in college learning computer science and ICT, that my love for Art and Computers, could be fused into one skill. When I noticed imaginations could be created and moved in a digital world, it made me think of all the possibilities I could create and make. This then became a goal of mine to inspire the future generations to see the possibilities where technology and art has been merged.
I did not know that this would be the route I would take. This industry was brought to my attention by a previous lecturer, that suggested this could be the path for me. She was 100% correct, and it's been my life ever since. I have always been a dreamer. Dreaming myself away in Star Wars, Narnia, Harry Potter etc. Having grown up watching films and TV and it would be a dream come true to one day help create worlds for people to dream themselves away in like me.
I have always loved Art, I started off drawing and painting ever since I was little. During my spare time I always loved playing video games with my big brother, it has only been up until recently I realized I could merge the two and make a living out of these things I enjoyed spending time on the most!
I decided that I wanted to work in the video game industry after playing one of my first video game back in 2010 : Xenoblade Chronicle. The Breathtaking and colossal landscapes and their vibrant colors reminds me of my hometown in the French Alps. Since then, I've always be passionate about colossal environments and great storytelling in Rpg in general.
Since I was little I was captivated by how immersive films could be such as Finding Nemo, Spirited Away, and Wallace and Gromit to name a few. I've always dreamed that one day I'd love to be able to play a role in creating so beautiful pieces, when I was younger I was more interested in the 2D side of things, however, since joining uni I'm now more focused on the 3D lighting side of things.
I always loved art, especially environment art, be it paintings, digital artworks or real life. As well as I was really into building worlds with Lego's, using same "assets" to build different types of worlds with all kind of stories :) I think that is how I developed my passion for game environment art.
