Uncover Hidden Talent: Hire the World’s Top New Digital Artists
From a young age I've been ensnared and enticed by the visual delight of anything in animated or cartoon form. I used to watch The Jungle Book while upside down on the couch, mouthing the words with the characters and scrunching my nose just like Mowgli did. I poured over Asterix and Obelix and my constant friends were Calvin and Hobbes. Since I was about 10 years old I started telling everyone I knew that I would one day be “a cartoonist at Dreamworks”. I'm working on it.
As a child, I was captivated by the magic of animated films. It was during a family trip to the cinema to watch a beloved Disney classic that I first realized my passion for animation. The colourful characters, imaginative worlds, and the way emotions came to life on the screen left an indelible mark on me. This childhood fascination grew into a lifelong dream, leading me to pursue a career in animation and embark on a journey to bring my own creative visions to life.
Hi! I'm Martin. Storytelling and movement-making is part of my roots as an African from Northern Uganda. My story starts with over 8 years of professional experience in performing arts - in dance, theatre, and tribal music. Now, I'm a Digital Animation student in my final year at The Animation School in South Africa. I have transformed my artistry as a performer into a specialist in character rigging, tool development, and character animation.
I was really into games and watching animated movies so I've always harbored a love for the arts. What really cemented the idea was during high school when I started playing League of Legends. I loved the story and worldbuilding, the splash arts and the variety of characters. I decided that I wanted to be apart of something amazing like that, I wanted create stories and bring characters alive for an audience.
Ever since I primary school I knew I wanted to get into the creative industry. Watching Animated movies throughout my childhood allowed for me to find a space of comfort and solace, I wanted to be able to make others feel the same. Growing up as a woman of colour the representation I saw in the media I watched was close to none, as I grew older into my teenage years this was something I knew I wanted to change.
Ever since I was young, I've always known that I wanted to work as someone within the creative industry. I was interested in a lot of manga, anime, art and animated films as a kid which lead to me eventually teaching myself how to draw and paint in my free time. I mostly like 3D rigging and animating now.
