I grew up playing video games, but only got into art after seeing fanart on a website called Tumblr, back in my wee Percy Jackson days. I took up some classes to refine my foundations at Syn Studio back in 2019, and found out about a role called Concept Art. That's when I realised I really liked the prospect of such a job!

Around 14-15 years old. After High-School, enrolled into animation school, continued my journey being a mural and tattoo artist to go full-circle and now I am just out of Concept art school at Syn Studio.

I started seriously thinking about concept art professionally 4 years ago.

I was 7 years old when a Magic The Gathering card ended up in my hands, i was mesmerized by the land illustration portraying a beach after a battle. I will never forget the feeling, i knew that's what i wanted to do with my life, creating inspiring images and tell stories with them.

I seriously started to know what I want when I finished school + civil service, and realised that, what I always thought would be the coolest thing to do is actually a job. That was almost a little over 3 years ago. From that day onwards I pushed towards my goal almost every day.

When I was a kid I loved to draw and watch Disney and Pixar movies, When first saw Toy Story at the age of 6 I knew I wanted to work with art.

I was an avid fan of Nintendo and Ghibli movies my whole life, so when I found out in high school that there was a job involved in the making of these projects, I knew I wanted to be a part of it!

I first realized I wanted to work in creative industries at a very early age. I was the kid who always drew in his school notebook. I used to be inspired by the media I consumed and always tried to draw myself into those worlds or create a world of my own.

3 years ago when watching a Proko video showcasing Kim Jung Gi's skills. It made me immediately want to relearn drawing and sketch and ideate like him. Ever since I've plunged into the game industry world and learned digital painting and concept art.

I have been interested in creating worlds and telling stories my entire life, but it was only a few years ago that I decided that I wanted to pursue it as a career. I've been working hard to get there ever since.

Whilst finishing a degree in architecture, I happened to play Deus Ex: Human Revolution, which opened my eyes to how video games were fast becoming the next great frontier for storytelling. Experiencing these immersive environments, cutting-edge visual effects & engaging gameplay, made me want to join in and meaningfully contribute somehow; as well as combining my passion for design, history and art.

I've always loved drawing but couldn't see it as anything more than a hobby until I played Dishonored and was introduced to Cedric Peyravernay's artwork, after that, I knew what I wanted to do for a living and haven't stopped learning since.

After finishing University with a business degree, I was looking for creative outlets. I'd always been enthralled with games and animated films, and was lucky enough to meet people in the industry. Since then, I'd been driven to learn concept art!

I had always been inspired by animated films and video games. It was in the third year of my animation program that I realised I wanted to pursue concept art as a career.

4th year of my bachelor's of biology when job prospects in that field were looking really bleak, and my art was within striking distance of professional level.

After a life time of drawing and doodling for myself as a hobby, I participated in my first Inktober challenge in 2018. As I discovered the other amazing artists participating in these types of challenges it dawned on me that it is possible to have a career in art where you engage in story telling and world building, and possibly even having an impact on the people who view your work.

When I was in college completing an illustration major, it was during the release of some stunning triple As titles such as Horizon Zero Dawn and Destiny2. Not only is their visuals compelling, the world-buildings behind these titles are equally stunning. I was curious about how the ideas are made and then being translated into visuals, and discovered concept in the process. It is very rare to find an occupation that is both challenging and joyful.

As a young child, I was fascinated by reading stories, playing games and watching movies about brave characters and fantastical worlds that when I became old enough to realise what a “concept artist” was, I knew that was my calling.

When I started watching animated movies.

I always knew I wanted to work in the video game industry but I initially chose the scientific path before realising I was really drawn into the artistic and more creative side of games. So in 2014 I started studying drawing and painting fundamentals before getting into concept art in late 2019.
