I was inspired by the work of creativity through the design of the environments and characters on media, and it became a dream of mine to be in a similar line of work of the production both indie and large companies continue to show every day, and I always draw a lot when I was a kid to now, and later in life when I made a game in Highschool and it gave everyone a laugh and excitement, that's when the spark began on the career path I wanted to move onwards to.
I first realised I wanted to work in the entertainment industry when I was around thirteen years old, I started to design my own characters and coming up with stories involving said characters after seeing many on the internet do the same, I greatly enjoyed the process and wanted to get these stories out there, as time went on I developed the stories and characters more and decided that getting into the entertainment industry would give me the best oppurtunity get my stories out there.
Like most people who love to draw, I have always been by animation since I was a child. I remember paying particular attention to the different art forms and styles presented in shows, films and comics. The animation that spoke out to me the most is limited western animations such as Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Bob's Burgers.
I've always had a creative streak, and I've always loved video games. However, it wasn't until I was already in my 30's that I decided to combine these 2 passions into a career. Now, armed with a Bachelor's Degree in Creative Arts: Game Design, I've quit my job as a carpenter to pursue my dreams of creating games full time.
I had this sudden realisation while watching Invader Zim when I was around 10 that there were people behind the cartoons I loved. What really drove me to want to create and be apart of the industry was when I fell in love with the band Gorillaz, combining music and art was just and incredible idea to me and Jamie Hewlett is my role model.
I have always been a creative person, dipping my toes into music, art, and dance as a child. Visual art being my main interest. Because of this I decided to do a bachelor of Fine Art with Griffith University. However, this felt really restrictive and wasn't right for me. I wanted something more fun and that would get out to more people. This is when I realised I could make art for things like games, movies, animations and feel like I was apart of something bigger and more fun.
I spent my childhood filling the edges of my schoolbooks with sketches and becoming engrossed by the wonder of animation, but I didn't realise it could be a viable career path until the very end of high school. Immersing myself in the world of animation, as both a consumer and a practitioner has been a wonderful, eye opening journey.
To be honest I was sure not if art was the right career path I wanted to do. Looking back at my past subjects and recognizing on what I was once really good at made me realise Art was the one, maybe. I was praise for being creative when I was young, as I got into high school, I started to slowly lose the creativity. For now, I can’t consider myself to be an artist or a pro just yet, until I have unlocked my full potential then when time comes that's when I know I'll be considered as an Artist.
I always loved knowing how things work so when i was young i would watch behind the scenes of movies and TV shows, this was the origin of my love for visual effects. after downloading blender in 2018 i started experimenting in the rem of 3D modeling, when i was 15 or so my interest for sparked when i found the you tube channel Game Makers tool Kit. i have been learning more and more about both games and 3D art ever since.
I have wanted to work in the creative industry since high school. I had a passion for playing with games and technology as well as telling a story and making people laugh. After realising that I could pursue a career in game design and development, I dedicated my time into learning about the creative industry. I wanted to deliver games to an audience in order to transport them into another world to escape from their ordinary life and feel the emotions and messages portrayed in the game.
