Round of applause for our sponsors

When I was in year 10, I always knew I wanted to help create video games, at first I'm was looking at joining an orchestra to play and create the music players experience in games. However, one year when I went to the Adelaide Supernova I saw the CDW Studios stand and I knew then that I wanted to to create environments for games . The art I saw there blew me away and from that moment on I was hooked.

I've always had a passion for art, but it wasn't until I was shown what really goes on behind movies and games that I realised I could take my passion and make a career of it. I was first interested in painting and concept art, but while studying at CDW I found that I actually had a passion for 3D art as well.

after completing an advanced Diploma in concept art for games and films at Enmore Design Center in Sydney

I've been interested in art since primary school but did not think about turning it into a career until year 12.

Growing up I always loved to play video games, watching animated movies and drawing characters and worlds on my sketchbook or some piece of paper to keep my self happy.

I first enrolled at Flinders University studying a Bachelor of Business, before the end of the first semester of that degree I knew I needed to transfer pursue an a career in a creative field. I fell in love with 3D during this period, and since then I've done my best to learn and grow as much as possible.

in 2017 when I was in my first class at TAFE cert 3 where my lecturer showed me this 3D piece of an island that was game ready and at that moment my mind was blown, and I squealed, the fact you could create complex and yet small worlds was amazing and at that moment i wanted to learn 3D

After doing Digital Media studies in high school, I found it to be a very fulfilling hobby that I decided I wanted to be my career. Originally I intended to go into more of the film side of the entertainment industry, but in the end I found the art section to be a lot more interesting to me.

I first realized I wanted to work in the creative media and entertainment industry after seeing the DreamWorks Animation Exhibition at Melbournes ACMI. Since then I have worked on building my skillset so that I can one day work in the entertainment industry.

I have always enjoyed films, games and art so I was drawn to the industry. I think I fell for 3D when I realised what an intriguing mix of subtle storytelling and problem solving it can be.

The creative pursuit has always been my one and only. I was actively involved in all things art at a very young age, and have dabbled in various creative areas ever since. I am ( & have always been) very indecisive and still feel like I haven't discovered my true calling, but I'm hoping to find my feet. I previously studied & worked in Graphic Design, which I continue to enjoy, my current primary focus is 3D modeling as well as 2D motion graphics.

I realised when I first played Halo Combat Evolved with my dad, and The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning with my mum. The games were so beautiful and I felt an immediate connection to them. They inspired me to pursue art as a long-term career, and focus on working in the creative media and entertainment industry.

I was always interested in art, but until I purchased a wacom tablet back in 2014 I had not previously considered pursuing it as a career. After attending a digital art course that led into another course in game art, I fell in love with 3D and I have been studying and improving ever since.

I've always loved drawing, but never thought about it as a career. One of my mates invited me to check out the art school he was going to. Standing there in CDW looking at all the drawing previous student's pieces had me thinking that I should give it a shot.

Ever since I can remember I have been fascinated with animated films and video games, at a young age I appreciated the artistry and craftsmanship even if I didn't know it. It made me excited to make games of my own with interesting characters and locations that are memorable. Ever since I've been working on my craft .

In middle school when asked what we wanted to be when we grew up and I realised that all I wanted to do was play and create games, my answer still hadn't changed from when I was a kid and I felt that it was a pretty good idea to go with what I enjoyed from there on.

Since the start of high school when I learnt about professional illustration and design for the first time. Growing up I had always had a passion for creating stories, characters and products; turning my characters into comics or books. If I could consume this media, why couldn't I make it for others and spread happiness in the same way film and books did for me?

I first developed an interest in the creative media industry when I was studying creative subjects in high school. That interest grew and grew and I decided to study a bachelor of creative arts: VFX & Entertainment Design at Flinders uni and CDW Studios.

Growing up surrounded by animated films, TV and video games I have always had an urge to try and create. I used to draw a lot throughout my childhood and that eventually evolved into creating things digitally. One of the first experiences I had creating digital art was the countless hours I spent in LittleBigPlanet making levels for other people to enjoy when I was 11. The enjoyment I had creating then, has now continued to evolve and grow as I've moved to using programs like Maya and UE4.

I first realised I wanted to work in the creative field and make video games, was when I met some artists from Blizzard Entertainment at Blizzcon in 2009

For a few years I worked as an administrator/receptionist but quickly realised that this was not something I wanted to do forever and started to think about what I wanted to do in the future. I’ve always loved art, video games and films, and after some research and thought realised that I could make this passion into a career.

At a very young age I have always drawn on anything I could from napkins to my school books. I knew i wanted to do somthing in the entertainment industry when I went to a job expo many years ago. I saw a booth where a man was just spending his time drawing on photoshop which inspired me to do what he does.

My whole life I've always had a passion for video games, both competitive and story-driven, and art. My free time was for the most part spent either playing games or drawing. Now that I'm older, and with that passion still in me, I'd love to create art and video games of my own.

From a young age I have been interested in Nature, Science, Art, games and film. Working on concepts for the entertainment industry with a focus on creatures and characters has been my goal for as long as I can remember. I use sketching and zbrush to concept and model my ideas for creatures and characters.
